Women’s Club of Indian River hosts Attack Addiction speaker

In recognition of October as National Substance Use Prevention Month, the GFWC Women’s Club of Indian River hosted guest speaker Jim Gillen from Attack Addiction. The nonprofit aims to help young people realize the dangers of alcohol and drugs so they and their families never have to experience the pain, tragedy and loneliness that accompany addiction. Its mission is to raise awareness about the disease of addiction through educating communities, assisting families in their quest for information and supporting those in recovery, thereby effecting positive change in Delaware.

After an informative talk, Gillen answered questions and demonstrated how to administer Narcan to treat narcotic overdose in an emergency situation. Gillen distributed emergency Narcan kits to all attendees.
