The good news first. The Eagles beat the decent Cincinnati Bengals team handily despite still not scoring any points in the first quarter. Thankfully, the Eagles’ offense eventually got rolling and kept up the pace for the rest of the game. The Bengals defense has been overrated this season, and the Eagles took full advantage of that.
The Eagles could have ended the week in first place, but the Washington Commanders got really lucky and won their game against the Chicago Bears. The Commanders won the game on a Hail Mary completion, which is rare in the NFL.
This week, the Eagles will be playing a surprisingly bad Jacksonville Jaguars team in the Doug Peterson Bowl (haha). I hope they continue to step up their game.
The bad news is the 76ers. They’ve gotten off to a really bad start at 1-3 on the season, including a terrible loss at home to a rebuilding Detroit Pistons team. The only game they’ve won so far was against the Indiana Pacers, when Tyrese Maxey scored 45 points and was able to help them achieve an overtime victory. The weirdest part of the season so far has been the fact that the 76ers organization has not specifically said why Joel Embiid has not played yet. They actually got fined $100,000 by the NBA for keeping his injury from the public. I hope he and Paul George come back as fast as possible, because the 76ers need them terribly and Tyrese Maxey can't be the only one scoring!
Well, this year’s World Series is complete. The Los Angeles Dodgers won their first full-season championship in 36 years Wednesday when they beat the New York Yankees four games to one. Going into the series, there was a lot of hype for these two teams to have a great matchup. Unfortunately, the results of the games did not live up to that by a long shot. The Dodgers were clearly the better team from the start, and the Yankees’ offense went silent for most of the series. The only good thing for the Yankees was the fact that they did not get swept. At least they won the one game – and it was a great one – but too little too late.
And then in the fifth game, the Yankees completely fell apart after having started the game with a 5-0 solid lead. In the fifth inning, they had three errors that let the Dodgers back into the game and then they never recovered and the Dodgers won the game 7-6! What a lousy way to end the season.
