‘The Sound of Music’ to open at Riverfront Theater Nov. 29

Second Street Players will present its 2024 season finale, “The Sound of Music,” from Friday, Nov. 29 to Sunday, Dec. 1, Dec. 6 to 8, and Dec. 13 to 15, at the Riverfront Theater; 2 S. Walnut St., Milford.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m.

Based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, “The Sound of Music” tells the story of a cheerful, energetic postulant who brings music and joy to the family home of Captain von Trapp while serving as governess to the seven von Trapp children. When Nazism takes a strong hold on Austria, Maria, the captain and the von Trapp family must make a decision that will impact their future. ”The Sound of Music” was the final collaboration between composer Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.

The ensemble cast includes John Agamie, Abigail Aleman, Haley Atallian, Matt Babineau, Aria Boyton, Joseph Bradshaw, Francisco Brizuela, Ava Bryfogle, Kat Christie, Donna de Kuyper, Alexis Formica, Edward Guinan, Steve Hailey, Valorie Hailey, Cam Harris, Natalie Howard, Isabella Hughes, Elida Knoll, Melissa Mann, Wesley Mann, Abby May, Deb Mengert, Susan Newark, Steven Perry, Abbie Porter, Jim Purcell, McKenna Purcell, Avery Richard, Rose Spickes, Cora Spickes, Jim Stark, Rhonda Taylor, Justin Truitt and Dana Willens.

Directors are Steven Haber and Melissa Brenner, and the production team includes Chris Meyers, musical director; Maria Bagley, choreographer; Rose Spickes, co-choreographer; Len Willens, stage manager and show photographer; Dawn Nickerson, assistant stage manager and set artist; Minor Harden, stage crew; John Moller, lighting design; John and Grant Spickes, lights; Gabe Marine, sound; Doug James, costumes; John H. Hulse, set consultant; Ed O’Connor, set design and construction; and Ann Nichols, producer.
