Second Street Players announces 2025 season productions

Second Street Players has announced its shows and directors for the 2025 season at the Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford.

First up is “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” a psychological drama by Dale Wasserman based on the novel by Ken Kesey. Show dates are Friday to Sunday, Feb. 7 to 9 and Feb. 14 to 16. 

Next, adventures abound in the youth production of “Peter Pan and Wendy,” adapted by Doug Rand from the novel by J.M. Barrie. Directed by Rachel Loper and John H. Hulse, performances will be Thursday to Saturday, March 28 to 30.

The spring production will be the endearing classic, “Steel Magnolias,” written by Robert Harling and directed by Becky Craft. Show dates are Friday to Sunday, May 9 to 11 and May 16 to 18.

Summer will usher in the enchanting musical, “The Secret Garden,” with music and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Directed by David Button and John H. Hulse, performances will be Friday to Sunday, July 11 to 13 and July 18 to 20.

The season’s second youth production is the delightfully entertaining “Villain School,” by Brian D. Taylor, directed by Guy Crawford. Show dates are Friday to Sunday, Aug. 29 to 31.

Fall will bring Audrey II to the stage in the musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors,” by Howard Ashman and Allan Menken, and directed by Chris Ennis. Performance dates are Friday to Sunday, Oct. 10 to 12 and Oct. 17 to 19.

Rounding out the year will be “The Homecoming,” a heartwarming holiday show adapted by Christopher Sergel based on the book by Earl Hamner Jr., directed by Gina Shuck. Show dates are Friday to Sunday, Nov. 28 to 30, and Dec. 5 to 7.
