Science & Society Lecture to host dinosaur expert Dec. 3
The Lewes Public Library’s Science and Society series will host paleontologist David Hone for an online Zoom discussion at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3, based on his new book, “Dinosaur Behavior: What They Did and How We Know.”
Dinosaurs were among the more successful animals in Earth’s history, with some 1,500 species stretching over 170 million years. But humans’ understanding of their behaviors – from feeding and communication to reproduction, sociality and combat – has been based on limited information from the fossil record. Now, new specimens and cutting-edge techniques are shedding fresh light on how dinosaurs lived and interacted. Hone will reveal insights from these new studies and from the emerging field of prehistoric animal behavior.

A scientist at Queen Mary University of London, Hone is the author of more than 100 scientific papers on dinosaur biology and behavior, as well as several books. He hosts the podcast Terrible Lizards, has written for leading publications including National Geographic and The Guardian, and has appeared on many TV and radio broadcasts.
