Sussex Academy celebrates boys’ soccer state champs

Seahawks successfully defended Division II title
December 1, 2024

Sussex Academy middle and high school students funneled into the bleachers Nov. 20, for a school-wide pep rally and athlete versus staff soccer game at its stadium to celebrate its back-to-back Division II state champion boy’s soccer team.

The team clinched the title in Dover earlier this month in a nail-biting 2-1 victory over St. Andrew’s.

Speaking at the rally were team captains Andres Romero-Nieto and C.J. Norton, along with head coach R.J. Dina and Head of School Kyle Bentley.

In the athlete versus staff game, the students managed two goals against their scoreless faculty opposition, as classmates cheered from the bleachers.
