When people think of Delaware Hospice, they might not think of Christmas trees, but the nonprofit’s annual Festival of Trees has become a cherished holiday tradition that dazzled this year’s attendees Nov. 22-24.
Held at the Delaware Hospice Center at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, the event featured an array of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each uniquely adorned by volunteers from local businesses, organizations and communities. Visitors admired the creativity and artistry while enjoying seasonal treats and an atmosphere brimming with holiday cheer. Several trees are auctioned off, and proceeds from the festival support the Delaware Hospice mission to provide compassionate end-of-life care and bereavement services to families across the state.
“The Festival of Trees has been going on for over 35 years.” said Peggy Dolby, Delaware Hospice director of philanthropy. “This is our way of reaching out to the community and bringing the community in to us. There’s a lot of needlepoint, wreaths, a few quilts, and people have already started working on ornaments for next year.”
