Eighty-three years ago, on Dec. 7, 1941, America was thrust into World War II after a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. The motto of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, is "Eternal vigilance is the price of peace – remember Pearl Harbor – keep America alert.” It’s very similar to what’s printed on the front page of every Cape Gazette newspaper.
I made a promise to my longtime friend and neighbor, Augie Giusti, who was on the battleship U.S.S. West Virginia that infamous Sunday morning, when it was hit by seven torpedoes and sank, that the story of that day would be remembered. Whether our country’s enemies come in bombers or as hackers, the words of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association are still very relevant ... lest we forget.
