Bicycles tour Lewes holiday lights
Amanda Burkhardt-McGoff and her sons sat by the campfire after touring Lewes by bike at night.
“This was our first year. We’ll be back next year,” she said.
They were among the 200 bikers who took part in the third annual Lewes Cycle Sports Light Up the Night Ride Dec. 9.
The route took the riders from Lewes Cycle Sports on Savannah Road, over the drawbridge and through town to admire homes decorated for the holidays.
Lewes Cycle Sports donated proceeds to the Greater Lewes Foundation’s Open Space Alliance campaign to save the Fourth Street Preserve.
“Everything was cool, nice lights,” said Ron Parks, who wore a Santa suit and, along with his wife Ellen, rode in a Jeep covered with holiday lights during the tour.
Lewes Cycle Sports hosted an after-party at its store, with refreshments, campfires and Christmas music to keep the spirit riding along.
