Donald R. Livingston, self-employed contractor

Donald R. Livingston, 75, of Milton, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024.

Don was born in Teaneck, N.J., and raised in Cresskill, N.J., son of the late John Orr and Winifred (Erhart) Livingston. He graduated from Cresskill High School in 1967 and furthered his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, graduating in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in business. After graduation, he worked for a short time in the insurance industry, and owned and operated an ice cream shop in Cherry Hill Mall. Never one to be still, Donald found his passion as a self-employed contractor, restoring and flipping old homes. In 2004, Donald and Barbara moved to Milford, where he continued work as a contractor, and then later retired in Milton.

In his spare time, Don remained active in hobbies of fishing, golfing, and his favorite hobby, landscaping and gardening. In his younger years, Don had a passion for rebuilding classic car engines and taking them out for drives on the open roads.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Winifred Livingston.

He leaves behind to cherish wonderful memories, his wife of 52 years, Barbara (Mjolund) Livingston; a son, Ian Scott Livingston (Jennifer); a daughter, Kelly L. Soults (Dan); special family friend, Stewart Miller; twin granddaughters, Ashleigh and Brooke Livingston; and a brother, Arthur O. Livingston (Pam).

A memorial service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 12, at Short Funeral Services chapel, 416 Federal St., Milton.
