Elton Jackson Killmon Jr., MVP dad
Elton "E.J." Jackson Killmon Jr., 73, a native of Pocomoke City, Md., rounded third and slid safely into home Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024. Surrounded by his loving family in Lewes, E.J. completed a life filled with love, adventure, and a legacy that will echo for generations.
A natural-born MVP, E.J. approached life like a great game of baseball— full of patience, passion, and belief in the power of small, consistent plays. He found joy in the everyday and made every field better than he found it. "My dad was in ‘A league of his own,’” said his son, Mike Killmon.
E.J. graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1969 and attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He spent 43 years with the Maryland Division of Parole & Probation, earning a reputation for fairness, humor, and compassion. Upon retiring in 2017, he was honored for his exemplary service and dedication.
In 1982, E.J. married Christine O. Killmon, and together they raised five children in Salisbury, Md., with their cherished rescue dogs. After retirement, E.J. and Christine moved to Lewes, where he continued inspiring all he met with his endless curiosity and Hall of Fame humor.
A lifelong Orioles fan, E.J. rooted for his team with the same loyalty he gave to his family, friends, and community. He believed in living with intention and heart, reminding everyone of their unique value.
E.J. is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christine; their five children, Meredith J. Paulsen (Brian, daughter Morgan), Jonathan Killmon (Chrissy, sons Kameron and Jacob), Megan Bounds, Michael “Mike” Killmon, and David Killmon (Jim Caso); his sister, Jacquelyn Lambro (son Jason); in-laws, Jeanne Peteler (Brian), Charlie and Debbie O'Donnell (Emma), and Joe and Nancy O'Donnell (Kolbe and Liam); and dog, Ellie.
