Stell Parker Selby absent from Legislature
Legislators took a moment of silence on the first day of the 153rd session to acknowledge the absence of Rep. Stell Parker Selby, D-Milton, and wish her a speedy recovery. Details on her health issue were unavailable.
“We are very sorry that she couldn't be here to join us today, but we are all wishing her a very speedy recovery and ask that you continue with your prayers and everything, and respect the family,” said Rep. Stephanie Bolden, D-Wilmington, at the start of the House session.
Speaking after the session, House Majority Leader Rep. Kerri Evelyn Harris, D-Dover, said Parker Selby had a health issue and is recovering. She would not say what exactly happened or for how long she has been out, citing privacy reasons.
“We’re looking forward to her joining us when she’s fully recovered,” she said. “We’re respecting her privacy on it. It’s the same that we have done throughout, so we make announcements letting people know when folks are absent. It’s just our way of doing.”
Calls made to Parker Selby have not been returned.
