Alicia Catherine Hampshire, generous heart
Alicia Catherine “Cathie” Hampshire, 77, a shining example of warmth and strength, passed away peacefully at her home in Milton, surrounded by her loving family, Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Cathie was born in Washington, D.C., June 8, 1947, to the late Floy “Tinka” Jenkins and Daniel Robson. She graduated from Regina High School in Adelphi, Md., in 1966. Cathie shared over five decades of love and companionship with her devoted husband, Robert “Bob” Hampshire. They called Calvert County home from 1980 until their move to Delaware in 2006. During her career, she served as a district sales manager, earning respect for her keen insight and mentorship. Later, she became the co-owner of Chesapeake Montessori School in Huntingtown, Md. Her beautiful smile, generous heart, and indomitable spirit will be profoundly missed, leaving behind a legacy of love and perseverance in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, vacationing at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, boating on her namesake "Alicia Sea," going to the beach, shopping, and listening to Elvis.
Cathie is survived by her husband, Bob; her son, Anthony “Tony” Hampshire (Erin); her daughters, Kristi Nelson (Chris) and Katie Johnson (Guy); her adored grandchildren, Rob, Jake, Dylan, Brody, and Bentley Hampshire, Emily Nelson, and Audrey, Brittany, Tyler, Kaylynn, and Hailey Johnson; her sister, Suzanne Jenkins; and brother, Buddy Robson.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Monday, Feb. 17, at the Elks Lodge, 2 Pythian Dr., Edgewater, Md. Family and friends are invited to begin visiting at 11 a.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres immediately following service.
