In 10 days, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will play in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. I hope this game will be just as competitive as the last one, when the Chiefs won 38-35. If the Eagles can play as well as they did against the Washington Commanders last Sunday, they have a good chance to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
In that game, the Eagles’ offense played their best game of the season by far. Saquon Barkley continued his amazing season by scoring on the Eagles’ first offensive play of the game on a 60-yard run. The passing game was very successful as well. After the first drive for the Commanders, the defense played really well.
If the Eagles want to win the Super Bowl, I think the defense is going to have to play great against the two-time defending champions. The Chiefs like to have long drives to score their touchdowns. Let's hope the Birds can stop at least half of their possessions with a punt or turnover. I believe their defense is more vulnerable to the Eagles’ offense. We will see what happens. The Chiefs are trying to make history to become the first to win three consecutive Super Bowl trophies since the the NFL merger in 1970.
So even though the Super Bowl is taking up a lot of the attention in sports, the Australian Open tennis tournament has concluded and deserves some press too. Madison Keys lived up to her potential in winning her first grand slam tournament. In the semifinals and finals she beat the No. 1 and No. 2 players, including the defending champion, Aryna Sabalenka, in an exciting three set match. On the men’s side, Jannik Sinner from Italy won his third straight major tournament with ease in the finals beating Alexander Zverev from Germany in straight easy sets.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I am so ready to move past January and believe that spring isn't too far off.
