Dennard F. Quillen Jr., businessman, RBVFC life member

Dennard F. Quillen Jr., 96, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. He was born Jan. 27, 1928, and was a lifelong resident of old Rehoboth.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Charlotte. They are survived by two sons, Chris and his wife Dayna, and Denny and his wife Judy; five grandchildren, Cory, Danica, Derrick, Jennifer and Jim; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dennard was a member of Epworth Methodist Church and was the oldest living life member of Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company.

Dennard and Charlotte will be remembered for their local businesses, D.F. Quillen & Sons Construction and Quillen's Hardware. Dennard proudly served in the U.S. Army and then returned to Charlotte in Rehoboth.

The “old Rehoboth” residents will remember and miss Dennard and Charlotte, and will fondly remember the original Bandstand at the end of the circle and that old, crooked Santa’s house; they were two examples of Dennard’s contributions to our wonderful community.

Private entombment services will be held Monday, Feb. 3, at Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.
