IMC-Lewes to host dharma talk Feb. 28, meditation retreat March 1
Insight Meditation Community of Lewes will welcome meditation teacher Larissa Kitenko for two hybrid events to be held online via Zoom and in person at St. Peter’s parish hall at Second and Mulberry streets, Lewes.
Wanting a Different Past, a dharma talk, is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28. A full-day silent meditation retreat will be held from 9 a.m to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 1.
All are welcome to attend. Participants are asked to bring a bag lunch/snacks. Chairs are provided; however, attendees may bring their favorite floor mediation cushions for the retreat.
Kitenko is a longtime practitioner of insight meditation, studying and practicing Buddhism in the Theravadan tradition. For four years, she has been the monthly teacher at IMC-Lewes. Kitenko has completed the Community Dharma Leader-4 Program and the Dedicated Practitioner Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California and is a teacher at IMC-Washington, D.C., led by Tara Brach, PhD. She has trained with Jon Kabat-Zinn and has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction since 2005. She is certified as an associate clinical chaplain at Shore Health System in Easton, Md. Leader of the Easton Meditation Sangha, Kitenko also teaches at the Salisbury Buddhist Community, and leads workshops and retreats throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
