Pickups set April 26-27 in Georgetown
March 13, 2025

Hooked on Plants Garden Center owner Jay Huss recently announced the business is closing its doors to make way for Heritage: A Native Plant Nursery to open in 2026 on the site at 25141 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Georgetown.

Heritage will focus on offering high-quality native trees, shrubs and perennials tailored to Southern Delaware, along with inspiring displays, unbeatable prices and educational programs that empower homeowners to create environmentally friendly landscapes.

Meanwhile, plant lovers don’t have to wait until 2026 to bring native beauty to their gardens. Adkins Arboretum, a nonprofit dedicated to conserving native plants and habitats in the Chesapeake Bay region, has added the former Hooked on Plants Garden Center as a second pickup site for its online native plant sale, which continues through Thursday, March 27, at adkins.donorshops.com/shop.

For customers who select the Georgetown location at checkout, orders will be available for pickup Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27.

Huss will continue his passion for landscaping through his Executive Lawns business, providing top-tier landscaping services throughout Sussex County. “With over 20 years in business here in Sussex County, we’re excited to return our focus to growing the full-service landscaping company. I had a great time running the nursery, and I can’t wait to see Clark and the team at Heritage take it to the next level,” said Huss. “One of my favorite times of year was Christmas, and we’re working with Clark to ensure that holiday traditions like selling Christmas trees, wreaths and grave mounds continue.”

To enhance his services, Huss has welcomed landscape designer Susan Wozniak, who specializes in native plants, ensuring even more sustainable, eco-friendly landscapes throughout the region. She will collaborate closely with both Executive Lawns and Heritage.
