Bunny Bonanza brings big crowd to Canalfront Park

Lewes event includes egg painting, mask-making

As the boat from the Freedom Boat Club pulled around the bend on the canal, the anticipation built.

Kids and adults saw the Easter Bunny on the bow as he made his way to Lewes’ Canalfront Park for the annual Bunny Bonanza on April 19.

The egg-cellent holiday visitor hopped on the dock and made his way through a gauntlet of greeters, many dressed in their Easter finest.

“We just got a house in Rehoboth and saw this was an event. This is our first time hear and the kids love it,” said Caryn Gerry, whose son was busy collecting plastic eggs in his basket.

There were tables where kids could paint Easter eggs and make bunny masks.

The Overfalls Foundation hosted a guess-the-number-of-jellybeans in the glass fish contest.

They raised $758 in donations for the UNICEF Children’s Fund, according to Dave Shook, President of the Overfalls Foundation.

13 members of the Cape Henlopen High School National Honor Society helped with the setup in the park.
