Support crucial beach repair

April 22, 2025
I understand that nobody wants to have to deal with another year of closures. I appreciate that Surfrider has suffered a lot in not being able to use the beach. It is an excellent area for surfing, fishing and enjoying the beach. This is a great area for activities.

I am not so sure I would support delaying a replenishment of the dunes, berms and beach area. There are crazy things happening in our government at this time. I don't believe it is a good idea to suspend an approved project to fix the beach now. All kinds of programs are being reevaluated, cut and done away with.

I know all of us appreciate the beauty of our area, but I'm not so sure the government would agree to keep dumping money into a never-ending battle with Mother Nature. Maybe we should all just suck it up and deal with it for one more season so we do not miss out on a replenishment that could end up disappearing a year from now. This is something bigger than us.

We don't always get what we want when we want it, but we surely will need it and may not get the opportunity in the future. Let's support this crucial repair now; who knows what's coming tomorrow?
