Wachovia bank locations to change to Wells Fargo in February

January 12, 2011

Wachovia signs and systems will change to Wells Fargo in February 2011, at 20 bank locations in Delaware, with almost 300 bank locations in Pennsylvania to follow in April 2011, as part of the largest bank merger in U.S. history comes to the Mid-Atlantic states.

To mark the occasion and underscore its commitment to communities, the company is announcing $130,000 in grants to food banks across the market through a series of $10,000 grants from the Wells Fargo Foundation to 13 food banks in Delaware and Pennsylvania.

The funds will go toward the food banks’ efforts to stock the cupboards of local families this holiday season.

Wachovia’s transition to Wells Fargo in Pennsylvania and Delaware is already under way, with tellers and bankers across the market shifting to the Wells Fargo model, which includes adding more in-store team members.

In addition, banking locations across the two states will be remodeled to reflect Wells Fargo’s open floor plan, and many stores will feature murals depicting local history, produced in conjunction with local historical societies.

The company has placed state-of-the-art Envelope-Free automatic teller machines in its Pennsylvania and Delaware stores that help the environment by eliminating the need for envelopes or deposit slips and help consumers by accepting stacks of up to 30 checks or 50 cash bills.

The automatic teller machines also help small businesses by offering an 8 p.m. deadline for check deposits with funds available at midnight, meaning deposits can be made after the close of the business day.

Other states converted

Wachovia Corp. merged with Wells Fargo & Co. Dec. 31, 2008. The company most recently completed successful community banking store and systems conversions in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia. It had previously converted Wachovia stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada and Texas. Other completed integrations include Wachovia Securities’ change to Wells Fargo Advisors and Wachovia Mortgage’s change to Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
