NFL Youth Football Camp heats up evenings at Cape

June 24, 2012

More than 150 young and rising football stars are attending the High School Player Development program at Cape Henlopen High School June 18-22. The program, sponsored by the National Football League, presents freshmen through seniors a program that focuses on character development and specific football skill training by position. Participants will gain full awareness of what is necessary to become successful collegiate student-athletes.

Character development and on-field training are the two elements contained in the program.  Coaches discussed character issues in small-group sessions for a three-hour period during the first day. They also distribute student planners in order to assist players with time management. Players split time during the remaining days of camp focusing on one offensive and one defensive position on the field.

Cape Henlopen, Sussex Central, Woodbridge and Milford high schools participated in the camp.
