Daisy Troop 115 of Rehoboth Beach was honored as an outstanding group of volunteers. The troop helped remove invasive plants from Cape Henlopen State Park. Gov. Jack Markell joined Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Secretary Collin O'Mara to honor youth and outstanding volunteers July 26 at the Delaware State Fair.
Six-year-old Andrew Wertz of Lewes was presented with two trophies for taking third place overall in the youth fishing tournament.
Wertz is in the first grade at Shields Elementary. He pulled 1.45 pounds of fish from Ingrams Pond, which Wertz says is his favorite fishing spot. Instead of soccer or baseball, Wertz said he is more interested in hunting and fishing.
His parents, Christina Negolfka and Andrew Wertz Sr. said Andrew always chooses to be outside.
