George, Miles & Buhr LLC recently announced the winners of its annual scholarship programs.
The George K. Miles Civil Engineering Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to students who plan to attend college to pursue a degree in civil engineering. Miles is a former partner at GMB and was involved in a variety of civil engineering projects throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. His brother, William Miles, was one of the founders when GMB opened in 1960.
The 2012 recipients of the George K. Miles Civil Engineering Memorial Scholarship are Kaitlin O’Neal, who graduated from Washington High School in Princess Anne, Md., and will attend Salisbury University/University of Maryland College Park in the fall, and Olivia Massey, who graduated from Worcester Preparatory School in Berlin, Md., and will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Thomas S. George Architectural Memorial Scholarship is intended for a student who plans to attend college to pursue a degree in architecture. The award is named for one of the founders of GMB. George was instrumental in the design of many buildings throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, including several schools. The 2012 recipient of the Thomas S. George Architectural Memorial Scholarship is Chloe Dye, who graduated from Cape Henlopen High School and will attend Drexel University in the fall.
