Thelma V. Harmon, nursing assistant
Thelma Virginia Harmon passed to eternal life at 3:10 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the home of Pastor Annie Custis.
After years of battling many ailments, she was just too weak to fight back and stated to all of us she was ready to go home.
She worked very hard all her life and was a true friend to all! Lots of friends knew her as Sue, the person to do anything for anybody, if she could. She had many other children she took into her home and every child, knew her as “Mom Sue.” Her smile made the world laugh. Our mom was all that and a big bag of chips!
She worked at Sport Kraft, a seamstress plant, Cape Henlopen State Park and Indian River Inlet. From there she worked 40 years as a certified nursing assistant in many elderly homes.
Mom was a widow, and is survived by her two daughters, Wandra R. Harmon (June) and Victoria N. Harmon (Vicky); two sons, Willis S. Harmon Sr. and Craig L. Harmon (Sport); two adopted sons, Wilfredo B. Melendez (Chico) and Michael McLimans; one sister, Annie Jane Custis, known as Janie; another son to her was, Evans Norwood who was there for her at all times, the one person we knew was by her bedside day and night and we thank you honestly and truly, Evans; two granddaughters, Danielle W. Harmon (Danny) and Tamra L. Harmon; one grandson, Willis S. Harmon II (Gussie); four great-grandchildren, Tiana D. Trammell Harmon (T.T.), Kelly Price (Lil’ Kelly), Jayden Price (Jay) and John Levin Brown Harmon (John John). There are just too many friends, cousins and family to mention. Just believe she loves and misses you all and will pass you in the garden, another day.
Our mom will be dearly missed, but her days of suffering are over and she is with the Lord and He will take care of her now. She now sees her son, William (Dickie) and her dad (Gus also known as Pop-Pop).
Viewing will be 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, and funeral will begin at 2:30 p.m., at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro.
