Sandbar Tavern to host fundraiser for Zack Cramer Jan. 27
The Sandbar Tavern and Whoa Daddy's Pizza in Long Neck are holding two separate fundraisers in the coming weeks for a member of the community, Zack Cramer, who had to have his leg amputated in his battle against bone cancer, which has appeared for the second time in the past 10 years.
The Sandbar Tavern, 302-945-4001, just off Route 23 at 7 Cove Village Center, will hold a benefit starting at 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 27. The event will include a 50/50 drawing, a Chinese auction, giveaways and live music all day. Bartenders will also donate their tips. A $10 charge will be collected at the door.
Whoa Daddy's, 302-549-1536, 34814 Long Neck Road, will be giving away free food (anything and everything on the menu) all day Sunday, Feb. 10. Donations given for the food will go directly to Cramer's fund in the fundraising exchange.
"He has overcome many chemotherapy sessions, surgeries and never-ending doctor's appointments. He recently had a surgery of removal of his left leg in which the rare form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma, had been," said Cramer's girlfriend Jen Hurley at www.GiveForward.com, a fundraising website to support individuals who face medical crises. "Insurance companies will only be covering a very small percentage toward a prosthetic, which could be as costly as anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000.
"After all of the downs that he has been through, he will need the strength and courage to get through this one last obstacle. His family and I would be so grateful to accept any donations of any kind to help Zack move on and start his new journey of walking and being pain free," Hurley said.
