Pixstar Inc. collects holiday goodies for local needy children

Pixstar Inc. recently participated in the first Cape Henlopen Food Basket Inc. of Lewes community food drive that benefits children and families in the local area. Pixstar Inc. participated in the first Cape Henlopen Food Basket Inc. of Lewes community food drive that benefits children and families in the local area. Pixstar employees volunteered to purchase, assemble and decorate 20 colorful Easter baskets that were delivered to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket office April 7.

The Cape Henlopen Food Basket Inc. distributed the baskets to children before Easter. The baskets included healthy snacks, toys, a coloring book, crayons, a toothbrush and toothpaste set, and an assortment of candy.

Pixstar’s involvement with this organization is part of its continued support of the Food Bank of Delaware, whose mission is to assist families experiencing hardship and those who are less fortunate in local communities throughout the state. Pixstar’s relationship with the Food Bank of Delaware began last December when Chairman and CEO George Reissig read an article on the Delaware Does More program.

This event was sponsored jointly by the Food Bank of Delaware and United Way of Delaware, which collected packaged goods and monetary donations.

Pixstar has pledged and donated a total of 361 pounds of food items and $5,000 directly to the Food Bank of Delaware. The company’s 2009 goal is to collect a minimum of 1,000 pounds.
