Delaware Grays add names to Confederate Monument

Keynote speaker for the ceremony was Shannon Pritchard of Richmond, Va. Pritchard spoke of the revisionist historians who claimed that there were no blacks fighting for the Confederate Army. Pritchard said, “Today probably not one in a hundred men and women know that there were tens of thousands of black confederate soldiers who took up arms.” He also said, “You can document it by using nothing but Northern sources.”
Chris Lewis holds the Bonnie Blue Flag next to John Sullivan as a member of the Color Guard.

The Delaware Grays Camp No. 2068 held a Delaware Confederate Veterans Monument Ceremony April 27.
The ceremony observed April as Confederate History Month and also honored two more Delaware Confederate Veterans whose names were added to the monument.
The names of John Custis of Newark and William James of Baltimore Hundred, Sussex County, were added to the monument.
The keynote speaker for the event was author Shannon Pritchard of Richmond, Va. His current book is titled “Collecting the Confederacy.”

Each year during April the Delaware Grays fly a new flag over the monument.
