Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge observes Flag Day

At the conclusion of the ceremony the worn and unserviceable flags are burned.
During the retirement of the flag ceremony, Past Exalted Ruler Gary Eckenrode places a worn and unserviceable flag in the center of the room.
Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 on Beaver Dam Road near Lewes held its Annual Flag Day ceremony June 8. With the help of members of Boy Scout Troop 2540 from Lewes, Exalted Ruler Steve Pepe traced the history of the flag as Scouts placed the flags at the front of the room. Shown using a small flag in tracing the history of the flag is Pepe.
