Bayside breaks ground for new pools in The Commons

April 1, 2009
Carl M. Freeman Companies recently broke ground on its newest amenity at Bayside - an outdoor pool complex that includes 3,650 square feet of free-form heated pool, a 550-square-foot children’s pool and a 7,700-square-foot deck area.

The new facility, Bayside’s second outdoor pool area, is being constructed in The Commons neighborhood. It’s expected the new pools will be open by early summer. “We are continuing our commitment to the vision of Bayside as a thriving master-planned community with first-class amenities,” said Doug Brown, director of development for Carl M. Freeman Companies. “Last year, we were able to bring live entertainment to Bayside through the Freeman outdoor stage. This year, we are adding another pool, further enhancing the Bayside experience.”

The Commons neighborhood also is home to NVHomes’ Bornquist single-family home model and its Severn villa model, which is currently under construction. NVHomes, which has been building and selling homes in The Commons since late last year, is now offering a selection of lakefront homesites overlooking Bayside’s golf course.

“These premium homesites front a beautiful lake that runs along the 17th hole of the golf course,” said Todd Hickman, NVHomes division manager and vice president. “It’s a very tranquil setting and yet you are in walking distance of the Sun Ridge Tennis and Recreation Center.”

NVHomes offers six distinct home styles at Bayside, ranging in size from 2,064 square feet to 3,500 square feet. The homes, which are Energy Star rated, offer first-floor living with spacious kitchens overlooking the great room, owner’s suites, formal dining areas and garages. Options such as sitting rooms, bonus rooms, bay windows and additional bedrooms are also available. Homes start in the $200,000s.

Bayside offers other recreational activities in addition to its Sun Ridge Tennis and Recreation Center and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. There are nature trails, access to Assawoman Bay for kayaking and canoeing, a beach shuttle and water-taxi service, and an outdoor stage for concerts and theatre performances. A Harris Teeter supermarket and PNC bank are located at the entrance of Bayside, and future plans call for constructing a performing-arts center within the community.
