Boy Scouts present Citizen Award to Greg and Ellen Bahtiarian

The Boy Scouts of America Del-Mar-Va Council presented the 2013 Distinguished Citizen Award to Greg Bahtiarian, MD and Ellen Bahtiarian, DO at a ceremony held Nov. 20 at the Baycenter in Dewey Beach. The event was also a fundraiser for the Del-Mar-Va Council.

The presentation began with the scout executive of the Del-Mar-Va Council talking about the achievements of the Sussex County Scouts. There are 900 Scouts in Sussex County, and they have performed about 25,000 hours of community service. This year, 32 Scouts became Eagle Scouts. Last year's recipient of the Distinguished Citizen Award, Joe Hudson, center, presents the award to Greg and Ellen Bahtiarian.

Shown are (l-r) Greg and Ellen Bahtiarian, Hudson, Scout Executive Jason Pierce and event Cochair Bill Lee. Greg Bahtiarian is CFO of Mid-Atlantic Family Practice and Ellen is a managing member of Southern Delaware Imaging Associates, which provides radiology services to Beebe Healthcare.

Greg Bahtiarian was very involved in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. Ellen Bahtiarian's family was involved in Scouts; her brother was also an Eagle Scout. Greg Bahtiarian said, “Scouting was a very important part of my life. The influences of scouting have remained a part of my life throughout.”
