Cape girls' basketball falls 58-33 to the Eagles
The Cape Henlopen girls' basketball team dropped its third straight game 58-33 to the Smyrna Eagles Dec. 16. The Vikings struggled to keep up with Smyrna throughout the game, trailing 11-2 after the first quarter and 22-12 at halftime. A 21-10 third quarter extended the Eagles' lead to 43-22 entering the final quarter.
Smyrna had its deep-shooting game going, as four players combined to hit eight three-pointers throughout the game. Eagles senior Alexus Stroud accounted for two three-point shots to go along with her game-high 18 points.
Senior Ellie Sutton scored a third of Cape's points, finishing with 11. Alyssa Miller and Madison MacElrevey each netted 6 points.
Cape will take the holidays off before heading to Lake Forest High School Friday, Dec. 27 for the Pat Borowski Classic. They will open the tournament with a game against Woodbridge at noon.
