St. Jude the Apostle parish celebrated the Rite of Acceptance and the Rite of Welcoming Jan. 12 at the 8:30 a.m. Mass with three people who have expressed the desire to become Catholics. They have been participating as inquirers into the Catholic faith on Thursdays with the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. There were two women, Mokshada Quillen and Tiffany Shirley, who were unbaptized and were received during the Rite of Acceptance. Jim Kelley, who was already baptized, was received during the Rite of Welcoming. Quillen and Shirley are now known as catechumens. Kelley is a candidate for full communion in the Catholic Church. The parish welcomes them as they take a leap of faith into a new life with Jesus Christ and commit themselves to become one with the community.
