Lauralea and Tripp Fabulous start 11th season at The Starboard

Party rock band performs every Wednesday
May 10, 2014

When it comes to Wednesday nights in Dewey Beach, there is no better place to be than the Starboard Restaurant. Hump night has always belonged to Lauralea & Tripp Fabulous, and now she’s back on the Starboard stage, ready to rock another season. Lauralea has long been a Dewey Beach staple, and since she teamed up with Steve “Monty” Montgomery and the Starboard Restaurant 11 years ago, the two have become nearly synonymous with midweek in Dewey Beach.

Lauralea and Tripp Fabulous are a party rock band which plays everything from rock 'n’ roll to dance music with a distinctively rock style. Their shows are energetic, and Lauralea is a dynamic performer. They play 100 percent live - a claim not many bands in the area can make! Lauralea says, “We still tackle all the songs - even the dance songs - we will do stuff that came out last week. With the bells and whistles that might need a track, we just rock it out.”

Lauralea and her band, consisting of a new keyboard player and a new bass player, have been preparing for this season and are excited to roll out a lot of new songs and a whole new show as well as lots of favorites.

Lauralea says nowhere else has there been such overwhelming support for her original music, a gift to any live performance artist. “People will chant for it, putting their beer bottles on their heads requesting ‘Cheers,’ and I don't get that everywhere. There has never been one show in Dewey Beach where I haven’t ended with one original song - by request - which is so, so cool.”

Lauralea will be playing her acoustic set every Wednesday, with the full band coming to rock the Starboard stage at the end of May. Be sure to get there early; shows start at 9 p.m. - it’s always a packed house. As always, all music at the Starboard Restaurant is free.
