Jerry Lodriguss will present “Shoot the Night Sky” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Cadbury Retirement Community, 17028 Cadbury Circle in Lewes. He will discuss how to capture images with a digital single lens reflex camera and a tripod.
Lodriguss' fascination with astronomy began at age 7 when he looked through a spyglass at the moon and discovered it had craters. At age 17, he combined this interest with photography when he bought a camera to take pictures through a homemade 10-inch reflecting telescope.
Since then, Lodriguss has had a renowned career in astronomical photography. His work has appeared in books and magazines all over the world. He is recognized as an expert in the field of DSLR astrophotography and the digital enhancement and correction of deep-sky color astrophotographs.
Lodriguss' work has been featured many times on NASA's Astronomy Photo of the Day, and has been included in exhibits by the National Geographic Society, Space Telescope Science Institute Hubble Heritage Program, Smithsonian Institution National Air and Space Museum, American Museum of Natural History, and Through the Lens: National Geographic's Greatest Photographs.
Lodriguss' astronomical photography of objects such as nebulae and galaxies has appeared in books and magazines all over the world. He has lectured and written extensively and has published four books: "Photoshop for Astrophotographers," "Catching the Light," "A Guide to Astrophotography with Digital SLR Cameras" and "A Guide to DSLR Planetary Photography."
