Janice Hopkins-Tingle, Roses store retiree

Janice Mae Hopkins-Tingle, known to the family as “Jennie,” was born to Paul Clifton Hopkins and Laura Snead-Hopkins Nov. 8, 1956. Janice departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at her Seaford home.

Janice attended Sussex Central High School, Georgetown. She was employed by Roses Department Store for 30 years at the Seaford and Denton, Md. locations. Janice met and married the love of her life, Medford Tingle.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Paul Hopkins Sr. Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Laura Hopkins; husband, Medford Tingle Sr.; three sons, Dwight Cornell Johnson, Medford Ward Tingle Jr., and Eric Ward Rogers; three sisters, Joan Hopkins-Milbourne and husband Edward, Stephanie Hopkins and friend Keith, and Jacqueline Hopkins-Williams and husband Ivory; two brothers, Paul C. Hopkins Jr., and Lonnie Hopkins; and seven grandchildren. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after noon. There will also be a time of viewing and visitation from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 7, at St. Johns 2nd Baptist Church. Burial will follow the funeral service in the adjoining church cemetery.
