John 'Jack' Ounan, Sun Olin retiree

John "Jack" A. Ounan, 87, formerly of Wilmington, currently of Lewes, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, at his home after a long illness.

Jack was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Austin Joseph and Dorothy M. Magee-Ounan. He attended Hershey School for Boys in Hershey, Pa., where he graduated in 1945. After graduation, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Jack was employed by Sun Olin Chemical Company in Marcus Hook, Pa. for 36 years. After retiring he moved to Lewes with his family to enjoy boating, traveling, golfing, playing pool, computers and playing the organ. But most importantly, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Fran (Patrick) Ounan of 63 years; his daughters, Lynn Azato and her husband James Sr. of Millsboro, and Karen Ounan of Lewes; three grandchildren: Christine Steele and her husband Sean, James Azato Jr. and his wife Donna, and Stefanie Willey and her husband Chris; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Hastings of California; and a brother, George Ounan of Florida.

All services are private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Vitas Hospice Care, 20773 Professional Park Boulevard, Georgetown, DE 19947.
