Energize Delaware offers rebate opportunity for homeowners through Dec. 31
For a limited time only, Energize Delaware, an initiative of the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, is offering rebates of up to $6,750 for homeowners making upgrades recommended under Home Performance with ENERGY STAR audits - an increase of 50 percent over original incentive amounts.
Now through Dec. 31, Delaware homeowners can get a comprehensive home energy audit for just $100 (may cost more in some instances; see website or call for details). By making the upgrades recommended during an energy audit, homeowners typically can enjoy a savings of up to 20 percent on utility costs. In addition, rebates up to $6,750 (previously $4,500) are available for eligible customers and projects.
To be eligible, rebate reservations must be secured by Dec. 31, and upgrades must be completed by March 31, 2015. Qualifying homeowners may also receive special 5.99 percent financing for energy-saving home improvements, up to $15,000, through AFC First.
Through the program, Delaware homeowners learn ways to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their homes through completion of comprehensive home energy audits performed by trained participating contractors. After the audits, homeowners can make the recommended energy-saving home improvements and take advantage of rebates that make the upgrade projects much more affordable.
The Energize Delaware Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program is a whole-house approach to improving comfort and safety in the home. Rather than focusing on a single problem, the program employs a comprehensive home energy audit with specialized diagnostic tests to pinpoint specific improvements that can make the entire home more comfortable and save money by reducing energy use.
The program’s certified contractors perform the energy audits and identify energy problems associated with insulation levels, exposure to outside air, trapped moisture, condition of appliances, efficiency of heating and cooling systems, and inefficient lighting.
