Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 of Lewes is the charter organization for Boy Scouts of America Troop 2540. The Elks support various specific activities such as Eagle Scout projects. Recently, the Elks Lodge gave a donation of $750 for more general needs of Troop 2540.  Pictured at the presentation are (l-r) Ernie DeAngelis, committee chairman; Cape Henlopen Elks 2540 Exalted Ruler Eileen Loftus; and Assistant Scoutmaster Boy Scout Troop 2540 Fred Downs.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a philanthropic fraternal organization whose members invest in their communities through programs that help children grow up healthy and drug-free. Some of their youth programs are Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot, Junior Golf Program, Youth Recognition, and Elk National Foundation Scholarships.

Each year they also sponsor students to attend Elks Youth Camp Barrett, which helps young children of all backgrounds grow into responsible maturity through a sustained camping experience which provides a creative, recreational opportunity in group living in the outdoors. Camping season for lodge-sponsored children runs from June through August for youth ages 9-13.
