Mariner Middle students tour Big Fish Grill

December 4, 2014

Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth Beach offered Mariner Middle School students a tour of its commissary to find out how things work in the restaurant business. Students learned about cutting and storing fish, sanitary procedures, making croutons, bread making, french fry making, preparing side dishes and job availability.

Students also tasted samples of food they helped to prepare, like pumpkin bisque and french fries, and enjoyed a science-on-the-spot lesson about live lobsters.

Big Fish also donated yoga mats and sneakers to Mariner Middle School's Functional ILC classroom. Lunch was provided for the eight students and four teachers by Nicola Pizza, owned by the Caggiano family. Candy Kitchen on the Boardwalk gave samples of taffy to the group.
