Busy aprons presented to Alzhemier's units

December 30, 2014

John Wood remembered his mother spending hours being entertained with a busy apron when she had Alzheimer’s disease. Busy aprons are also known as activity aprons and fidget aprons. They are lap aprons that have a zipper, Velcro, a pocket with buttons and a lacing area, as well as different textures for tactile stimulation.

John and Bill Kelley, both of Selbyville, who work together to fundraise for the Alzheimer’s Association, commissioned Lauri Pavlik, a local seamstress, to create 15 lap aprons that were presented to the Delaware Valley Chapter for distribution to those who may enjoy them and find them useful. Five of the aprons were presented to Brandywine Senior Living at Fenwick Island recently for use in the Reflections Unit.
