The Cape girls' swimming team moved to 3-0 on the season with a 114-55 win over Indian River at the Ennis School pool in Georgetown. The Vikings boys also got into the win column with a 90-80 victory over the Indians.
The girls got off to a powerful start as the 200 medley relay team of Elena Campbell, Sarah Hyde, Amelia Nigh-Johnson and Grace Brokaw took top honors with a time of 1:58.25. They continued their meet dominance with Sarah Hyde winning the 200 individual medley in 2:24.16.
"Our relay team really swam well together today," said sophomore Sarah Hyde. "Our relay starts were really on."
Amelia Nigh-Johnson won the 50 freestyle in 26.20 while Sarah Hyde flew through the pool in the 100 butterfly with a 1:05.85. Sarah Rambo took the 100 freestyle sprint and the 100 backstroke with a 1:00.75 and 1:08.53, respectively.
Molly Weeks won the grueling 500 freestyle with a 5:59.68 and teamed with Sarah Rambo, Amelia Nigh-Johnson and Sarah Hyde to win the 200 free relay with a 1:51.55. Weeks, Rambo, Nigh-Johnson and Grace Brokaw won the 400 free relay with a 4:05.89.
"The 500 is a challenging event," said sophomore Weeks. "I'm just happy I helped the team by scoring in the race."
The boys' squad had a tougher time with the Indians, winning by just 10 points.
Jack Weeks, Mike Schrock, Rick Brokaw and Cole Conrad teamed to take the 200 medley relay with a 1:53.43. Brokaw followed up with a 2:10.17 victory in the 200 freestyle.
Jack Weeks won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke with 55:30 and 56:50, respectively. Tyler Mitchell took the 100 breaststroke with a 1:13.86 to finish out the Vikings' scoring.
"Both teams had solid performances today," said assistant coach Pete Olson.
