TV station 47 ABC WMDT is seeing green in the new year. The station recently unveiled its virtual news sets, using green screen technology to forgo traditional physical sets. Advances in technology are making virtual sets more popular with broadcast stations and cable networks across the country. WMDT 47ABC is the first station in the region to embrace the technology for its traditional newscasts. The technology allows for an easy switch between sets from newscast to interview set to special features.
“Viewers had a taste of the virtual world with last year’s launch of Delmarva Sports Insider, our locally produced weekly sports program,” says News Director Sarah Truitt. “The new year is the perfect time to launch a fresh look across all of our newscasts.”
General Manager Kathleen McLain said this is just one of many improvements happening this year. The station has also revamped the 47 ABC app with a new user-friendly interface and upgraded its website to give visitors a better, more informative experience.
“We are investing heavily in our news products, knowing the viewers want something fresh and innovative,” said McLain.
Only in their sophomore year, station owners Brian and Patricia Lane urge viewers to stay tuned for more.
