On Fat Tuesday, Feb. 17, Krys Johnson, Rehoboth Beach Main Street executive director presented the winning 2015 Gumbo Crawl Champions trophy to The Purple Parrot. Accepting the trophy is Hugh Fuller, owner of The Purple Parrot. The voting was very close with the Purple Parrot winning by 8 votes. BY STEVEN BILLUPS
Helping to celebrate Mardi Gras, Rehoboth Beach Main Street sponsored a Gumbo Crawl Feb 15. More than 850 visitors and locals braved the windy, frigid weather to visit 12 restaurants, with ballots in hand, tasting each establishment's gumbo dish. Ballots were submitted, and on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 18. Purple Parrot was announced as the winner.
