Bayhealth recognizes Neurodiagnostic Week April 19-25

April 20, 2015

At Bayhealth, patients are able receive high quality CT scans, MRIs, mammography, X-rays, interventional radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine/PET scans and bone density scans. These services are all provided at Bayhealth Diagnostic Imaging.

Images are vital to physicians and surgeons, allowing them to see what may be happening not just on the surface, but also deep beneath the skin. Once a referral is made and the scan is done, a radiologist reviews the image and prepares a report of findings for the referring physician’s review. Scans of the brain, head, neck, and spine often require the attention of a neuroradiologist, a radiologist who specializes in neurological disorders.

During Neurodiagnostic Week April 19-25, Bayhealth salutes the neurodiagnostic staff for their efforts on behalf of patients.

Neuroradiologist Vijay Viswanathan, MD, specializes in neuroradiology, nuclear medicine and general diagnostic radiology. He plays a key role in the field of neurodiagnostics at Bayhealth reviewing images, diagnosing specific disorders and also performing minimally invasive procedures. “In the course of a day, I help diagnose a variety of neurological conditions, including brain, head and neck, spinal and pediatric neurological disorders, as well as vascular abnormalities such as aneurysms,” Viswanathan said.

“It is a privilege to be able to help our patients,” Viswanathan said. “Neuroradiology is exciting. I love it. The state-of-the-art imaging equipment and technology we use helps us to diagnose, understand and treat neurological diseases better and faster than ever before.”

Viswanathan is proud to be part of the well-functioning team at Bayhealth. “Our patients have a short period of time between their services and follow-up care,” he said. He explained that the unique spirit of cooperation between physicians and radiologists greatly benefits Bayhealth’s patients. “From the initial doctor’s appointment to imaging to getting results and treatment, we are able to deliver accurate and prompt services to our patients.”

Viswanathan said, “Bayhealth has an excellent physician model of patient centered care that values expertise, familiarity, and trust. Because of this model, I’m able to practice medicine in a responsive, efficient and personal manner.”
