Pet Valu opens in Georgetown

Two- and four-legged customers recently showed up to celebrate the grand opening of Pet Valu, a new pet supply store in the Walmart shopping center in Georgetown.
“Georgetown is somewhere we wanted to be,” said employee Jen Muniz. “There are a lot of animal lovers here!”
A Canadian company that has expanded to the northeast United States, Pet Valu carries a large selection of pet food, including holistic and premium brands, as well as treats, toys and accessories. The Georgetown location also features the products of popular Millsboro dog treat company Tailbangers. At about 3,800 square feet, the store includes a self-washing station and will provide grooming.
All Pet Valu staff members are trained in pet care and nutrition via the University of California Davis Extension School.
“Everyone is extremely knowledgeable,” said Muniz. “We’re glad to help with any questions about nutrition or allergies or anything at all.”
Discounted nail trims and ear cleanings for pets were offered at the grand opening, as well as refreshments, goodie bags, face-painting, balloon-sculpting, and drawings for pet-themed prizes. Adoptable animals were featured by the Georgetown SPCA.
Pet Valu is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. Call 302-858-4496 for more information.
