The game was tied at 4 at halftime, then the Vikings got it cranking to outscore the Hillers 8-3 in the second half.

The Vikings closed out the regular season 11-4 and will likely earn the No. 1 seed in the postseason DIAA state tournament, which is based on strength of schedule.

Tower Hill with a record of 9-2 coming into Lewes has two games remaining, hosting Wilmington Friends (9-4) Tuesday, May 12, and Charter (12-1) Wednesday, May 13.

“I wasn’t expecting to be playing from a tie after halftime, but Tower Hill had us well scouted, we didn’t shoot well and we had to figure out how the officials were calling the game," said coach P.J. Kesmodel. "I always say if we get the ball enough, we’re going to score."

Cape's Double L inside and outside threats of Lizzie Frederick, four goals and one assist, and Lexi Woodruff, five goals and two assists, combined to carry the offense. Sarah Tappan, the Vikings' leading scorer with 75 on the season, scored two goals in the game while Tess Bernheimer scored an important left-handed goal when it was a three-goal game.

Sam Broadhurst recorded 5 saves with the close defense of Annie Judge, Coryn Cannon, Taylor Gooch and Sarah Rambo, who all played well and did a great job clearing the ball.
