An estimated 1,000 people gathered at Legislative Hall in Dover June 4 as Delaware paid its final respects to former Attorney General Beau Biden.
Vice President Joe Biden and the Biden family – who Gov. Jack Markell described as Delaware's family – gathered around the casket as Beau Biden's life was remembered during a brief service.
The state posthumously awarded Beau the state's Conspicuous Service Cross for his heroism, meritorious service and outstanding achievement.
In the receiving line, Joe Biden greeted mourners with a hug and spoke with many as they paid tribute to his son.
