Matilda 'Beba' Novkovic, enjoyed life to fullest
Matilda "Beba" Novkovic of Sarasota, Fla., entered into eternal peace Monday, June 15, 2015, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Beba was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. A holocaust survivor of World War II, she and her husband moved to Paris, France where they lived for 10 years prior to immigrating to the United States (New York City) in 1956. She raised her family in Madison, Ct., prior to moving permanently to Siesta Key, Fla. in 1984.
While living on Siesta Key she worked for the Sarasota Public Library System for 19 years before retiring. The common description of Beba was that she had the most incredible will to live. She enjoyed life to its fullest, spending time with her family and friends as well as traveling the world.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Milan Novkovic of Sarasota; her two sons, Steven Novkovic of Sarasota and Mark Novkovic (Beth Novkovic) of Hockessin; two granddaughters, Beatrice and Caroline; and her sister Lilian Pruett of Chapel Hill, N.C.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday at Coolspring Presbyterian Cemetery near Lewes.
