Rehoboth Film Society names Steve Drum art theme winner

July 3, 2015

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Steve Drum’s digital art submission titled “Movies in the Sky” has been selected as the art theme for the 18th anniversary of the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival.

Movies in the Sky will be the theme of the poster, program, ads, T-shirts and other collateral materials. The poster will be released late this summer.

Drum is currently a student at Salisbury University majoring in graphic design. He is also working at the SU Graphic Design Tech where he assists with designing and printing posters. His second job is sales associate at the retail store Hollister Company.

When asked what was the inspiration for his artwork, Drum said, “I wanted to combine an activity that is commonly done on the beach with the festivities of the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival. The creation of movie reels as kites combines the entertainment of movies with the classic fun of families flying kites on the beach. Both are feel-good activities that bring people together.”

Executive Director Sue Early said, “The film society is delighted to showcase the work of another young emerging artist.” Board President Allen Stafford said, “The film society appreciates the work of all the artists who create a special piece of art specifically oriented for this event. The individual creativity and talent that is displayed in each submission is enjoyable to view as well as challenging to judge.”

Bids for the original “Movies in the Sky” will be accepted through a silent auction during the film festival Saturday to Sunday, Nov. 7 to 15.

The film society will again invite artists to submit work for the 2016 film festival. Artists interested in participating should email info@rehobothfilm.com for guidelines and due date.
