Wine Spectator magazine has once again honored Eden restaurant in Rehoboth Beach.
Since 2004, the bold American restaurant on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach has been collecting praise from Wine Spectator, the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post for its lengthy, eclectic wine list and romantic setting.
Assistant Manager Colin McGonegal said crafting the award-winning wine cellar is a labor of love for management and staff at Eden.
"Our goal is to have what you are typically not able to find at other places," McGonegal said. "We encourage distributors to bring us the wine they love."
Eden is one of only five restaurants in Delaware to be honored by Wine Spectator for wine excellence. The others include Sullivan's Steakhouse in North Wilmington, the Green Room at the Hotel DuPont, Newark's Cafe Gelato and Domaine Hudson in Wimington.
The wine list at Eden features as many as 39 wines by the glass and more than 50 half-bottles.
"We want to give people a chance to try whatever they want," McGonegal said.
Service staff are trained each week on new additions to the wine list, which are selected primarily for their quality and sustainability practices and then paired with items from the dining menus.
Each month, Eden also hosts a wine dinner, McGonegal said. Thursday, July 30, the wine dinner will feature selections from DeLoach Vineyards of Santa Rosa, California paired with a four-course meal with crab salad, soft shells, brisket, accompaniments and dessert.
